Condition Guidelines

Condition Guidelines & Best Practices

All buyback offers are based on items that are in 8/10 condition or better. Please refer to the specific requirements below to see what is acceptable for our store.

🕹️ Things We Don’t Deduct For

Case Replacements: We do not deduct for original cases that need to be replaced due to being broken, chipped, or having stickers (as long as the cover art is fully intact).

Disc Resurfacing: We do not deduct for light scratches on discs that can be professionally resurfaced, as long as the disc is repairable.

Save Batteries: We do not deduct for dry save batteries in retro cartridges (like Pokémon games).

💿 Disc-Based Game Requirements (PlayStation / Wii / Xbox)

Disc Condition: The disc must be in good shape or repairable (no deep circular scratches from laser burns).

Cover Art & Manual: The cover art and manual must have no severe water damage, discoloration, or major tears.

Blu-ray Discs: For Blu-ray based games (PS3/PS4/PS5), only very light scratches are acceptable.

Deductions: Damaged cover art: 50%–100% deduction or Loose price value.

Disc unplayable after professional repair attempt: 100% deduction.

👾 Cartridge-Based Game Requirements (NES / SNES / N64 / Game Boy)

Cleanliness: The cartridge must be clean with no heavy marker ink, deep scratching, or security stickers.

Pins: Cartridge pins must be clean, clear of heavy corrosion, and not permanently damaged.

Labels: Front labels must have no major tears, heavy fades, or severe discoloration.

Deductions:

Major cleaning required: 25%–50% deduction.

Damaged, ripped, or heavily written front label: 50%–100% deduction.

📦 Vintage Cardboard Box Requirements (NES / SNES / N64)

Because condition is everything for vintage cardboard boxes, we split our Complete In Box (CIB) categories into three strict tiers:

CIB (Excellent): The box must be crisp and clean, with no crushing, heavy creasing, tears, or writing. Manual and cartridge must be clean with no damage.

CIB (Average): The box may contain light creasing, minor edge wear, or tiny sticker residue. No heavy crushing or major writing. Manual may have minor wear. Cartridge is clean with light wear.

CIB (Poor): The box is heavily worn with significant creasing, crushing, taping, seam splits, or small tears, but still holds its general shape. Manual and cartridge may have heavy wear, writing, or label damage, but must be fully functional.
